Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
The less-than-ideal start for the Faroe Islands in the Nations League leaves them with a chance to retain their place in the third tier of the tournament. On the other hand, Armenia have the potential to advance to League B, but to do so, they must defeat the group's underdog.
Faroe Islands
At home against North Macedonia (1:1), the Faroe Islands had a stroke of luck, as their opponents increased the tempo significantly in the second half and arguably deserved the win based on overall chances (1.55 xG vs 2.15). On their visit to Latvia (0:1), the team had to create their own opportunities and couldn't withstand the counterattacks, although they weren't outplayed in overall creativity by the Baltic side (1.31 vs 1.64 xG).
Armenia
A month ago, Armenia commenced their Nations League campaign confidently against Latvia (4:1), having scored three goals by the 48th minute. It appears the coaching staff have found the perfect combination in the lines, as the team generated 1.49 xG with 17 shots over 90 minutes against the Baltic team. Naturally, fans expected more from Armenia when visiting the Macedonians (0:2), but they simply lacked the experience during the decisive phase of the match.
Faroe Islands vs Armenia Prediction
Armenia's tactical flexibility will allow them to create opportunities against the Faroe Islands in various styles of play. The Northerners are unlikely to withstand the star-studded lineup available to the coach, who knows how to leverage the strengths of his key players.
