Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Following the elimination of both Beşiktaş and Galatasaray from the tournament, Fenerbahçe now bear the responsibility for Turkish football in the forthcoming stages of the Europa League playoffs. They are considered favourites for their match against Rangers, and the team will be looking to establish a commanding advantage at home before making the trip to Glasgow.
Fenerbahçe
After a 0:0 derby draw with Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe recorded convincing wins over Gaziantep (4:1) in the Cup and Antalyaspor (3:0) in the league. Since January 26th, Youssef En-Nesyri has recorded 12+1 in 10 matches, and his strong form has brought him close to Victor Osimhen and Krzysztof Piatek in the Süper Lig statistics. At home, Fenerbahçe are on a six-match winning streak, having not lost since December 11th with eight wins and one draw.
Rangers
Although Rangers finished in the top eight of the Europa League group stage, their recent form has raised concerns. The Scottish side were eliminated from the Scottish Cup by Queen’s Park (0:1) and have lost two of their last three league matches. The Glasgow team have conceded at least one goal in eight of their last nine matches, a factor that led to Philippe Clement’s dismissal by the club’s management.
Fenerbahçe vs Rangers Prediction
At Şükrü Saracoğlu, an experienced and skilful Fenerbahçe side are expected to overcome an inconsistent Rangers side, who, despite showing strong performances in international competitions, are considered less competitive in this match.
