Simon Dalton presents his prediction bets on the 2024 Champions League match.
After failing in last year's Champions League qualifiers, Cherchesov lost his job as the Ferencvárosi manager. Now the Hungarian football league leader will try to go as far as possible in the European qualifiers, especially since their opponent, The New Saints, doesn't pose a serious threat.
In the last Hungarian league season, Ferencvárosi finished 16 points ahead of second place, with a big advantage in both goals scored and missed (goal difference +50). In friendlies, they scored 11 goals in five matches, including a 2-2 draw with West Ham. With Pascal Jansen as the new coach, the Budapest team plans to start with a win, and ex-Krasnodar player Kady should replace Lisztes, who was sold to Eintracht.
The New Saints team is almost 20 times cheaper than their opponent (2,7 million euros vs 58 millions). Their domestic season hasn't started yet. After beating Decic (3-0 and 1-1), they drew 1-1 with Macclesfield in a friendly. The Welsh champions probably won't have any pleasant surprises in Budapest: their opponent is much stronger, which they proved even in unofficial matches.
From the first minutes, Ferencvárosi will try to score quickly. The New Saints’ defence won’t be able to handle the pressure from the favourites and they will lose at least with a two-goal difference.
