Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
With victories in two October rounds of the Champions League, Feyenoord Rotterdam have edged closer to the top 10 of the table, and a win over Red Bull Salzburg could propel the Dutch vice-champions even higher. Bookmakers have little doubt about Feyenoord’s successful performance, especially given their opponent’s struggles to find form in the European competition.
Feyenoord Rotterdam
In Lisbon against Benfica (3:1), Feyenoord surprisingly managed to handle the top opponent with relative ease, effectively converting their chances (1.01 xG and six shots on target). Alongside excellent attacking play, their goalkeeper, Timon Wellenreuther, was exceptional, making seven saves. Last week, they stumbled in the derby against Ajax (0:2) but quickly bounced back with a win over AZ Alkmaar (3:2) – their attacking prowess remains intact.
Red Bull Salzburg
In their last four matches across all competitions, Red Bull Salzburg have only found the net in a cup match against lower-tier Tirol (3:0). Their loss to Dinamo Zagreb (0:2) marked their third consecutive defeat in the Champions League, with the Austrian side yet to register a shot on target in the tournament. Notably, in the previous round of the Austrian Bundesliga, RB Salzburg finished with 10 men after a red card for Joane Gadu, which drained much of their energy.
Feyenoord Rotterdam vs Red Bull Salzburg Prediction
RB Salzburg continue to miss the injured Karim Konate, Luka Ratkovic, Fernando Santos, Amar Dedic, and Maurits Kjaergaard. Feyenoord should have little trouble dispatching their struggling opponents.
