Bookmakers agree that the Rotterdam side are favoured to win, especially given their recent success against the Amsterdam side and the backing from their home crowd.

In 13 matches this season, Feyenoord have suffered just one defeat, which came in the UEFA Champions League opener against a formidable Bayer 04 Leverkusen (0:4). The Dutch side quickly improved their standing in European competition with victories over Girona (3:2) and Benfica (3:1), and they enter the derby with Ajax on a five-match winning streak. Against Utrecht (2:0), Feyenoord created a significant advantage in xG (1.67 vs 0.25), securing a deserved victory over a top-four rival.
Ajax
Ajax last tasted defeat in mid-August, yet they have had their share of underwhelming performances since. For example, after the international break, the team narrowly beat Heracles Almelo (4:3), conceding three goals from 0.83 xGA and six shots on target. It seems the Italian manager has settled in well in Amsterdam, but facing Feyenoord without six injured squad members in Rotterdam will be challenging.
