Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the International Rugby Union match.
Fiji
Typically, Fiji play on home turf during the Pacific Nations Cup. For international friendlies, squads from around the world tend to meet at neutral venues suitable for hosting touring test matches. Travelling to the Pacific Islands remains a logistical challenge. The last friendly hosted in Fiji took place back in 2019, when they played regional rivals Tonga.
Scotland
As expected, Scotland do not feature in the Pacific Nations Cup. Instead, they compete in the Six Nations Championship, where they have consistently secured fourth place in recent years — a standing that would likely be out of reach for a squad even if they were included. The team only narrowly beat the bottom side in that competition, Wales (24:19). That match was part of the 2024 Autumn Tour, during which Scotland also delivered a commanding 57:17 win over Fiji.
Fiji vs Scotland Prediction
Fiji go into this fixture as favourites. This is partly due to the long travel and acclimatisation issues faced by Scotland, but also because several of their key players have been called up to the British and Irish Lions squad currently touring Australia. While the hosts have a realistic chance of securing victory, the visitors are unlikely to suffer a heavy defeat. As a result, we are backing the away side with a positive handicap.
