Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EuroBasket match.
The meeting between Finland and Germany is the standout fixture in Group B. Both squads are in contention for top spot and, in the final round of group play, will settle who finishes there.
Finland
Finland were unbeaten until yesterday, but they lost 78:81 to Lithuania. Once again, their defence let them down. We saw something similar against Sweden (90:93), but Lauri Markkanen rescued them then. The opposition are considerably stronger this time, so Lauri Markkanen alone may not be enough.
Germany
Germany continue to impress with their scoring output. Yesterday, they dismantled Great Britain (120:57), with Tristan da Silva the standout on 25 points. They posted an excellent 66.2% field-goal percentage and 75% in the paint. The Germans are proving very hard to contain. They are averaging 109.5 points per game at the tournament.
Finland vs Germany Prediction
Four games have been enough to understand how Germany will approach it: offence, and only offence. Even if Finland are happy to trade baskets, that will not help them contain the opposition’s leading scorers. As a result, without overcomplicating it, we are backing the visitors’ individual total over.
