Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Olympic Games match.
France
France struggled a lot with their offense in friendlies. They lost four games in a row and didn’t score even 85 points in any of them. The French side bets on size and athleticism with Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama as their "twin towers". This means we'll see a lot of slow, half-court basketball focusing on controlling. They don't have anyone to run fast breaks or create quick attacks.
Brazil
Brazil, on the one hand, has already achieved its main goal. Just being one of the top teams at the Olympics is a big win for them. Brazil's offense relies on 6'9" forward Bruno Caboclo, who deals with defenders and creates space for the shooters on the three point line. The problem is, he'll have a really hard time against the French team. Also, Brazil haven’t recently played any friendly games because their best players were trying to heal from injuries.
Prediction
France will try to control the game: they'll slow down the pace as much as possible and cut off Brazil's open shots. Giving Brazil's small lineup some free space could be dangerous.
