Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EuroBasket match.
Group D has produced an unusual scenario. Three squads sit on a 3-1 record and each can still finish top, with France among them. Fortunately for the team, the opposition here is one of the weakest sides in the tournament, Iceland.
France
France recently halted the in-form Poland, winning (83:76). That game underlined that the attack does not rely on a single player. Poland contained Sylvain Francisco, only to concede 36 points to Guerschon Yabusele. In addition, France feature Zaccharie Risacher, Elie Okobo and Théo Maledon, among others. It is not feasible to shut them all down.
Iceland
Iceland have long looked resigned to an early elimination. They have lost all four group games. Moreover, Poland and Slovenia both scored without much resistance, averaging 85.5 points. The defence is porous, and Iceland have yet to clear 80 points themselves.
France vs Iceland Prediction
A France win looks straightforward, but point differential matters at EuroBasket, so the designated home team, France, need to secure the widest margin possible. In that case, we believe the handicap is the most logical angle, and they should comfortably clear a 20-point handicap.
