Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women’s Euro match.
The final place in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 semi-finals will be decided between Germany, runners-up in 2022, and France, who were eliminated by the Germans at the same stage last time out.
France (women)
In the group phase, two of France's three opponents suffered heavy defeats, each conceding at least four goals — namely Wales and the Netherlands. Only England fared slightly better, conceding two, though they still finished pointless. Even that key fixture resulted in a match with more than two goals in total, as France conceded in every group game.
Germany (women)
Germany did not register any dominant wins. In fact, they were on the wrong end of a 1:4 defeat against Sweden. That result meant six of their last eight matches have ended with a margin of three goals or more — the rest were comfortable wins for Germany. All of those games also featured a Total Over 2.5 goals, including their group stage match against Denmark (2:1).
France (women) vs Germany (women) Prediction
So, are we about to see France — currently ranked seven places lower — suffer a heavy defeat? Not necessarily. There's still no clear favourite between these two sides. What does seem more likely is a high-scoring encounter. Each of their last three meetings ended 2:1. Germany hold a 2:1 advantage in the head-to-head record, but are not a reliable pick at the moment. The more prudent bet lies in the total goals market.
