Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the US Open match.
Taylor Fritz
Fritz will be playing in the quarter-finals of the US Open for the second time in his career. Last season, the American showcased top-level tennis in the first week, but he faced a major disappointment in his match against Novak Djokovic, losing 1:6, 4:6, 4:6. This has been a common theme for Fritz in Grand Slam tournaments, as he has never progressed beyond the quarter-finals, suffering four defeats in four matches.
Alexander Zverev
Zverev expertly subdued one of the dark horses of this tournament. Alexander managed to overcome Brandon Nakashima in three sets, who had already caused quite a stir (3:6, 6:1, 6:2, 6:2). The German tennis player fired 14 aces and hit 51 winners with an 88% first-serve success rate. This victory marked Zverev's 56th win of the season—exactly the same number he achieved throughout the previous year.
Taylor Fritz - Alexander Zverev Prediction
Even if we consider the Elo ranking with a focus on hard courts instead of the ATP ranking, Zverev still leads Fritz by six positions. Alexander is far more experienced in major matches at the Grand Slams: he has won 8 out of 12 quarterfinal matches. Our prediction is to bet on the favourite.
