Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Premier League match.
Both Fulham and Leicester began the season with matches against Champions League contenders. They sometimes showed good football, but it wasn't enough to win. In this game, the chances of success are roughly equal for both sides.
Fulham
Fulham finished a respectable 13th last season, despite having the 17th most expensive squad. Their match against Manchester United highlighted serious issues with finishing. They managed 10 shots on goal, but none were particularly memorable. Only one save from André Onana in the first half stood out. Fulham created just 0.16 xG. Meanwhile, the goalless draw lasted almost until the end only thanks to brilliant saves from goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Leicester City
Leicester have rebuilt several times since their triumphant season. Even their head coach changed before this season. One constant remains: Jamie Vardy, who continues to score. Tottenham couldn't escape him either. The 37-year-old forward nearly scored twice, but Guglielmo Vicario intervened. Bernd Leno won't feel safe either. In the first round, Leicester played defensively, handling 71% possession by the visitors and 15 shots. Tottenham created just 0.98 xG.
Fulham - Leicester City Prediction
A notable trend in Fulham's games is that only one team scores. This happened in 20 out of their 38 matches in the 2023/24 season, as well as in two of their three pre-season friendlies. Both clubs showed stronger defensive performances than attacking ones in their opening fixtures, so we expect a low-scoring match where at least one of the sides fails to score.
