Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Champions League match.
The surprising result of the first leg in Switzerland puts Galatasaray in an awkward position ahead of their second leg with Young Boys (2:3). Bookmakers agree that the Turkish club will still manage to overcome the Swiss side, as their player quality, which has not disappointed in recent championship campaigns, is in their favour.
Galatasaray
On Young Boys' field, Galatasaray were typically strong in attack (3.31 xG from 20 shots). It’s possible Oran Buruk's initial plan failed, as the goals came only after substitutions, with Michy Batshuayi scoring two goals off the bench. Even considering Abdülkerim Bardakcı’s suspension (red card) and a potential injury to key goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, the Istanbul side has a far stronger squad, and home support will give them an additional boost.
Young Boys
The win against the Turkish club was only the second for Young Boys in the current campaign. They used their sole opportunity last week when Filip Ugrinic converted a late penalty while playing with a man advantage, securing the victory for the team. They generated 1.70 xG in open play, but even at home, their defence was unimpressive. Additionally, key goalkeeper David von Ballmoos got injured, which will impact their defence.
Galatasaray - Young Boys Prediction
In Istanbul, Galatasaray will launch fierce attacks on their opponent's goal, pushing them closer to the Champions League final stages. We’re betting on the hosts to score at least two goals.
