Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Nations League match.
In one of the most intriguing groups of the Nations League group stage, a pivotal stretch begins. Georgia lead Ukraine by two points before this head-to-head clash, with both teams having the potential to top the table, though defeats could see either relegated to League C.
Georgia
Following two impressive victories in September, October brought a scoring drought for Georgia. Against both Ukraine and Albania (both 0:1), the team were forced to take the initiative as their opponents ceded control and cut off counter-attack opportunities. Over 180 minutes, Georgia generated just 2.01 xG and managed only seven shots on target, never really threatening. Despite this, they are unlikely to deviate from their three-defender system (3-5-2).
Ukraine
Ukraine's failure in the Euro 2024 group stage prompted a more cautious approach in their own half. The creative core featuring Georgiy Sudakov, Mykola Shaparenko, and Mykhailo Mudryk remains irreplaceable in the starting lineup, but they have seldom delivered in attack. In two matches in October, Ukraine played to a total under 2.5 goals—holding the Czech Republic to a 1:1 draw but only producing three shots on target.
Georgia vs Ukraine Prediction
A month after their first meeting, Georgia and Ukraine are not expected to take risks in the second leg. We recommend betting on a total under, as both teams are likely to create few chances, with the match not expected to produce more than two goals.
