Germany
Germany easily won the opening game against Scotland (5:1). The xG difference was astonishing (2.28 versus 0). Even having a 3-goal lead, Germany kept on playing aggressively in the second half (15-1 in shots and 5-0 in corners). An own goal scored by Rüdiger wasn’t a problem. Good substitutions should be mentioned as Can and Füllkrug scored a goal each and Müller made an assist.
Hungary
Hungary wasn’t stable in June, playing friendlies, suffering a defeat from Ireland (1:2) and beating Israel (3:0). The first Euro game wasn’t good for Hungary either. Switzerland beat them 3:1, with bad statistics of the first half for Hungary: (0.19 – 1.33 xG and 38-62 ball possession). They didn’t manage to show their best in the end of the game either.
Germany – Hungary prediction
Germany confidently started Euro 2024. Hungary failed to perform well. Switzerland managed to score 3 goals in the game versus Hungary. Germany can do the same by the end of the first half. Hungary has no chance to win this game.
