Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
Due to the Netherlands dropping points in their 1:1 draw with Hungary, Germany have moved to the top of Group 3. It seems that the German side are determined to maintain their lead, especially with enough resources at their disposal to build on in the remaining fixtures.
Germany
For their October international call-up, Germany opted to bring a relatively inexperienced squad, giving several debutants their chance. Against Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:1), Tim Kleindienst started and contributed to Deniz Undav's brace, although the Borussia Mönchengladbach forward had a goal disallowed for offside. Over the 90 minutes in Zenica, Germany generated an impressive 1.81 xG with 12 shots. Towards the end, Julian Nagelsmann brought on Jonathan Burkardt, Angelo Stiller, and Robin Gosens, who mainly play reserve roles.
Netherlands
Conversely, the Netherlands' October campaign is not going as planned, as they barely managed to win against Hungary away. In that game, the Netherlands were trailing from the 32nd minute, and in the 79th, captain Virgil van Dijk left his teammates a man down. Denzel Dumfries salvaged the situation for the team, but their defensive deficiencies were evident.
Germany vs Netherlands Prediction
A few weeks ago, Germany almost secured a win against the Netherlands on the road (2:2, with 19-11 in shots). The home support in Munich and Van Dijk's absence should give Julian Nagelsmann's attack more freedom, with the possibility of more prominent scorers like Kai Havertz playing a role.
