Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Getafe head into the final match of the season in a relatively secure position, with a five-point buffer above the relegation zone, courtesy of a recent win. Facing a driven Celta de Vigo side still chasing a return to European football, Getafe are unlikely to be operating at full throttle.
Getafe
Before their 2:1 victory over Mallorca, Getafe had endured a six-game losing streak, failing to score in five of those matches. Since 12 April, they have posted 8.58 xG but scored just three times — the lowest attacking output in the league over that period. At home, Getafe have not picked up a single point since the end of March, losing four consecutive matches with a combined score of 2:8.
Celta de Vigo
Last weekend, Celta de Vigo suffered a frustrating 1:2 loss to fellow top-eight hopefuls Rayo Vallecano, a result that helped keep their opponents' European ambitions alive. Since 15 February, Celta de Vigo have lost just twice in seven away fixtures — narrow defeats to Barcelona (3:4) and Real Madrid (2:3). Celta de Vigo rank in the top seven across La Liga for expected goals (57.14), with only four sides posting higher totals.
Getafe vs Celta de Vigo Prediction
Six months ago, Getafe failed to seriously trouble Celta de Vigo on the road (0:1, 0.54–1.92 in xG). Celta de Vigo appear well-positioned to take points from Saturday’s clash — they have shown they belong among the European contenders.
