Girona approach this match as the confident favourites. They currently sit in 10th place and have been consistently collecting points at home against lower-ranked teams. Espanyol, on the other hand, are battling for survival, occupying 18th position. The visitors struggle with lacklustre performances both in attack and defence, but they could pose a threat to the hosts, who aren’t exactly renowned for their rock-solid defence.

Girona have been inconsistent, alternating between victories and painful defeats. However, they have only lost twice at home, against Barcelona (1:4) and Real Sociedad (0:1). Despite injuries to Viktor Tsygankov and Abel Ruiz, Girona maintain a sharp attacking edge. Veteran Cristhian Stuani has stepped up to lead, scoring four goals. Yet, their defence frequently falters, having conceded in seven of their last nine matches.
Espanyol
Espanyol are enduring a tough spell, having lost six of their last seven games. They perform particularly poorly on the road, managing just one draw. Their attack is weak, with only three goals scored in the last five matches, two of which came in a win against Mallorca. Defensively, the situation is hardly better, as the underdogs concede an average of 1.83 goals per game. Nevertheless, Espanyol have scored in six of their last eight encounters with Girona.
