Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Premiership Rugby match.
Gloucester’s defeat to Bath in Round 12 saw them slip out of the top three, but they remain firmly in the hunt for a play-off place. Bristol Bears, meanwhile, sit second in the Premiership and are still eyeing top spot — currently held by Bath. Saturday’s West Country derby at Kingsholm promises fireworks.
Gloucester
Gloucester were undone by league leaders Bath (26:42) last time out, but their season has otherwise been strong. Even with a second straight loss, it’s far too soon to count Gloucester out of the play-off picture. At home, they’ve been particularly tough to crack — five wins and a draw from their last six. That stalemate (7:7) came against Hartpury University in a Cup fixture that carried less weight. In the Premiership, they downed then-top-four Leicester (38:31) in Round 11. High-scoring affairs are a theme: four of their last five matches across league and Challenge Cup have comfortably cleared the 55.5-point mark.
Bristol Bears
Bristol Bears were also involved in a try-fest in their last outing, blowing away Exeter Chiefs (52:38). The first half alone produced 64 points (40:24), with the Bears crossing the whitewash eight times. They have hit the over 58.5 line in five straight games across Premiership and European competition. Their attacking form is electric, and Bristol Bears rarely shy away from a shootout.
Gloucester vs Bristol Bears Prediction
They also like to practice scoring tries against each other: all five previous meetings have ended with the over 56.5 winning. As for winning the match, Bristol Bears have a slight advantage (3-2). The over 56.5 is the obvious choice.
