This season, Gloucester have only lost at home to two clubs: Saracens (26:35) and Bath Rugby (31:55), both in the top four. Leicester are also part of that elite group, but they don't appear as formidable on the road. Additionally, Gloucester have the motivation to overtake the Tigers, as they trail by just three points.
Gloucester
Gloucester finished last season in ninth place but currently hold a top-five position, thanks to a series of three consecutive home victories, including a win over bronze medallists Sale Sharks (36:20). By January, Gloucester had accumulated only two points fewer than they did for the entire 2023/24 season, and the second half of the campaign had just begun. They have won six of their last seven home matches across all competitions since 26 October.
Leicester Tigers
Leicester's success is largely attributable to their performances at their own ground. This season, they have won five of seven matches across all tournaments at Welford Road, including a narrow win over Gloucester (29:26). On their travels, Leicester Tigers achieved all their victories before December—four wins in five matches. However, since the start of winter, they've encountered setbacks, with a draw and three losses. The rare draw could be considered fortunate, as the Tigers equalised with Harlequins (34:34) just a minute before full-time.
Gloucester vs Leicester Tigers Prediction
While the visitors have slightly stronger player quality, the home field advantage is significant in rugby. Gloucester are likely to secure the win, albeit not dominantly, but by a narrow margin. Leicester Tigers will have to settle for a consolation bonus.
