Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WNBA match.
The Golden State Valkyries went into the All-Star Weekend break on a run of three straight defeats, making the extended rest a timely one. The squad had ten full days to assess their performance and make tactical corrections. Whether those efforts will translate into results remains uncertain. Their next challenge comes against the Dallas Wings, who are struggling.
Golden State Valkyries
The Golden State Valkyries’ downturn has been largely attributed to the absence of Kayla Thornton, who leads the team in scoring (14 points per game) and rebounding (7 rebounds per game). Unsurprisingly, her injury has had a major impact on the team’s performance. Unfortunately, the All-Star break wasn’t sufficient for her to fully recover, and it’s doubtful the squad will be able to reverse their fortunes immediately.
Dallas Wings
The Dallas Wings returned to action with a dominant 87:63 win over the Seattle Storm. The break clearly helped their key players, who delivered strong performances. Paige Bueckers added 14 points and 6 assists, while Arike Ogunbowale and Luisa Geiselsöder combined for 33 points.
Golden State Valkyries vs Dallas Wings Prediction
Despite missing key players, the Golden State Valkyries are being touted as favourites. We’re not convinced. The squad currently lacks attacking fluidity, which could be exposed by the dynamic Dallas Wings. We believe the visitors have enough quality to at least stay competitive and potentially spring a surprise.
