Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Golden State Warriors’ revamped lineup with Jimmy Butler is set for its first major test ahead of the playoffs. The Denver Nuggets currently share third place in the Western Conference with the Memphis Grizzlies, making this a potential first-round matchup.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors’ winning streak has been impressive, but how much of it is down to their actual level? Among their recent opponents, only the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks stand out as legitimate threats—both teams are a tier below the Denver Nuggets. Jimmy Butler himself is struggling to find form, averaging just 10.6 points over the last three games. While the Warriors managed to hold the Knicks to 94 points, their interior defence remains questionable—Karl-Anthony Towns had a field day against them, scoring 29 points.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets rank third in the league in scoring, averaging 121.2 points per game on 50.7% shooting. Nikola Jokić is firmly in the MVP race and continues to put up incredible numbers: 28.9 points, 14 rebounds, and 9.7 assists over his last 10 games. Given the Warriors’ struggles protecting the paint, the Serbian centre is poised to dominate, which could spell serious trouble for the Warriors.
Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets Prediction
The Warriors are expected to win, but considering their defensive issues, Denver have every chance of keeping this one close. Even if they don’t win outright, they should at least stay within reach. The smart bet is on the Nuggets to cover the spread.
