Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Allsvenskan match.
As Hammarby finished second last season, the squad will take part in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers. To ease their congested summer fixture list, a second-round league match has been brought forward to the spring international break.
Hammarby
At present, Hammarby are just outside the European qualification zone, sitting in fourth place. However, with only a third of the Allsvenskan season gone, the standings remain tight — they're only two points behind league leaders Mjällby AIF. Defensively, Hammarby have been the most solid side in the league, conceding just seven goals — the best record in the competition. They have kept clean sheets in three of their last six outings.
Mjällby AIF
Mjällby AIF have claimed a slender lead at the top of the standings after winning seven of their last eight matches. The only slip-up in that run was a 2:1 away defeat to AIK Fotboll, which briefly cost them first place for two rounds. However, key wins on the road against Djurgårdens IF (3:1) and at home to Brommapojkarna (1:0), alongside dropped points from their rivals, have returned them to the summit.
Hammarby vs Mjällby AIF Prediction
In the last three meetings between these clubs, the winning team has netted three goals on each occasion, with the home side emerging victorious every time. This trend suggests Hammarby could hold the advantage. That outcome seems plausible, especially given the squad’s defensive strength. Across five home matches, Hammarby have dropped just two points and allowed only three goals. All indicators point towards the hosts having the upper hand.
