Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Both clubs secured victories last weekend, with Heart of Midlothian's win being more anticipated than Hibernian's. If they both aim to reach the top six and avoid a relegation battle, they need to continue winning now. And let's not forget, this is the Edinburgh derby.
Heart of Midlothian
The victory over St. Johnstone (2:1) marked their second consecutive home win in the Premiership, but problems persist in other competitions and away for Heart of Midlothian. Between these wins, they suffered two defeats and a draw, conceding in all three matches.
Hibernian
Hibernian travelled to Aberdeen in the 18th round not as favourites, yet they returned with a convincing win (3:1). Moreover, it was a comeback victory: they conceded in the 14th minute but equalised within four minutes. Hibernian required only 1.44 xG for their three goals, whereas the hosts couldn’t score a second despite 1.90 xG. In the last two months, the Edinburgh club have failed to score only against Celtic, netting at least once in the other seven matches.
Heart of Midlothian vs Hibernian Prediction
Both teams are inherently geared towards scoring, and they often succeed. Season statistics suggest we will see goals from both sides: they score and concede more than one per game.
