Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Aberdeen may have lost recently, but they still comfortably hold onto second place, trailing Celtic by just three points. This margin is crucial if they plan to challenge for the title.
Hibernian
Hibernian are in their own race—one for survival. Currently, they sit at the bottom, just a point behind Hearts. With only one win in 13 matches, they struggle to score, although Hibernian have found the net in six of their last seven outings. Recent games have been disastrous. Against St Mirren, they missed a penalty at 0:2 before eventually converting another spot-kick. At Dundee, they had a player sent off in the 12th minute while leading 1:0, which turned the tide dramatically against them, resulting in a 4:1 defeat.
Aberdeen
Aberdeen stumbled where few expected, losing to sixth-placed St Mirren (1:2). The defeat was certainly a surprise. The hosts capitalised on a long ball from the goalkeeper to the central striker, who outpaced a defender, and a well-placed header from a corner. Aberdeen scored a quality goal but failed to convert further chances: 16 shots, 4 on target, with 72% possession and an xG of 1.22. Luck was also not on their side, with the referee reversing a straight red card to the opposing defender to a yellow in the 28th minute, and Aberdeen later hitting the woodwork.
Hibernian vs Aberdeen Prediction
This match will be full of opportunities. Hibernian may not finish their chances as effectively as St Mirren, but something is bound to find its way into the net. Against St Mirren, they generated even more xG (2.34) and had equivalent possession (69%). Aberdeen might not necessarily win, but goals from both sides seem likely.
