Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the CONCACAF Gold Cup match.
Group B remains wide open heading into the final round, with even El Salvador still in contention for the knockout stage. For both Honduras and Curaçao, the task is simple: win and you're in.
Honduras
The Hondurans could technically go through with a draw — provided El Salvador don’t pull off a shock win over Canada. That scenario looks unlikely, but so was a draw between Curaçao and Canada. Yet that’s exactly what happened (1:1), and Curaçao even had two goals ruled out for offside. As for Honduras, they bounced back from a 0:6 drubbing at the hands of Canada with a 2:0 win over El Salvador in a heated derby. The Hondurans only made things safe in the 95th minute through substitute Dixon Ramírez.
Curaçao
Curaçao are not to be underestimated. Back in 2019, they made it to the quarter-finals of the Gold Cup after finishing second in a group that also featured Honduras and El Salvador (with Jamaica instead of Canada). A crucial step in that campaign was a narrow 1:0 win over Honduras.
Honduras vs Curaçao Prediction
Curaçao have conceded just once so far — and that from a free kick. Given their resilience and history of pulling off surprise results, they’ll fancy their chances of at least avoiding defeat here. The safer play is to back the islanders on the double chance.
