Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Segunda División match.
Huesca have slipped out of the play-off positions. They remain within reach of the top six thanks largely to the inconsistency of their rivals, but there's little room for error now — the squad are two points behind the sixth-placed side with eight rounds remaining. Málaga had one of the most reliable defences in the first half of the Segunda season, but since the turn of the year, that solidity has evaporated. The team are now only three points clear of 19th-placed Eldense and are teetering on the edge of the relegation zone.
Huesca
Huesca have lost four of their last five matches, though they did pick up a 3:2 victory over Sporting de Gijón. They’ve scored in five of their previous six fixtures. At home, Huesca have been far more effective — suffering only two defeats and scoring regularly. The squad have found the back of the net 31 times at home, the fourth-best tally in the division. Patrick Soko has been a standout performer, scoring 11 goals in the Segunda — a tally that places him seventh in the league’s scoring charts.
Málaga
Málaga have also suffered four defeats in their last five outings. Their only win in that stretch came against Racing Club Ferrol (2:0), who are second from bottom in the standings. In three of those five games, the squad failed to score. They’ve lost their attacking threat and are now clinging to safety. On top of that, the visitors are dealing with a number of absentees: Haitam Abaida, Luismi Sánchez, Ramon Enriquez, and Dani Lorenzo are all ruled out, while Dani Sánchez serves a suspension.
Huesca vs Málaga Prediction
Neither side come into this in great shape, but Huesca have the advantage of playing at home and boast a more reliable attack. Málaga, meanwhile, are struggling offensively and dealing with a depleted squad. They have a poor recent away record against Huesca, having lost their last three visits without scoring. The hosts are unlikely to lose this one and should manage at least one goal.
