Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
Hungary
It's been a while since Hungary were beaten so comprehensively as they were by Germany. The last time they suffered such a heavy defeat was in 2013 against the Netherlands (1:8), with their most recent big loss being 0:4 to England in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. In reality, the German side should have scored more, but they hit the woodwork twice, and early in the match, a field player cleared the ball off the line. This dismal result can be partially attributed to Péter Gulácsi, who conceded two close range goals and another under his hand. Despite all their struggles, the Hungarian side did create some chances and could’ve scored at least once (1.13 xG). Bosnia and Herzegovina are not Germany.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Balkan side had enormous problems in defence, so it's no surprise that they were torn apart by the Netherlands (albeit towards the end of the match). They allowed 28 shots, nine on target, and another hitting the woodwork. Overall, Bosnia's defence is quite porous. However, they did manage to score two goals despite only having four shots on target. It is doubtful they will be able to maintain such high finishing.
Hungary - Bosnia and Herzegovina Prediction
This will be the first meeting between the teams in exactly 17 years. Back then, Hungary narrowly won at home (1:0). In general, Bosnia have never beaten Hungary in their four encounters. Bosnia are currently on a seven-match losing streak that started in October 2023. Additionally, Hungary are unbeaten at home for 10 matches, with only one draw among them.
