Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Beijing match.
Iga Swiatek, the 2023 Beijing champion, takes to the court as the tournament’s standout favourite, especially after the withdrawal of Aryna Sabalenka. Emma Navarro, despite a dip this season, will try to make it competitive, but her chances against the tournament favourite look slim.
Iga Swiatek
Swiatek is in exceptional form: a strong North American swing (12 wins and two defeats) has flowed into an Asian run (6-0), including a fresh title in Seoul. Iga has not lost any of her eight matches in Beijing across her career. At this event she has already produced two 6:0 sets against Yuan Yue and Camila Osorio Serrano, conceding only three games across two matches.
Emma Navarro
Navarro is enduring a challenging season: a 31-23 record and a modest return on her primary hard courts (16-12). Having started the year inside the top eight, she has slipped to 17th in the rankings. Emma plays attacking tennis, relying on firm strokes off both wings, but she lacks variety and consistency. In 2025 she has lost four of five matches against the top 10, including a comprehensive defeat to Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open earlier this year (1:6, 2:6).
Iga Swiatek vs Emma Navarro Prediction
Swiatek is at her peak and reads the game superbly. Navarro can hit through the court, but her limited defence against elite opponents, as that one-sided defeat in their head-to-head showed, leaves little room for suspense. Iga should continue to dominate and win decisively by a wide margin.
