Iga Świątek
She's the leader in the world rating again. She started the season with a marvelous performance in the United Cup. She beat 2;0 Haddad Maia, Sorribes Tormo, Zheng and Kerber, beating Garcia (2:1). The Polish player is obviously in the perfect form now. However, she was eliminated from the previous edition of the Australian Open in the Round of 16 by Elena Rybakina (0:2). Although Iga hadn’t let her opponents win a set before that game.
Sofya Kenin
Sofya had some practice in the beginning of January in Brisbane and Hobart. But she’s unlikely to be satisfied with the results. She beat Minnen (2:0) but suffered defeats from Saville and Rodionova (0:2 on both occasions). Sofya’s unlikely to be a difficult opponent for Iga in her current form.

Only one of the opponents has managed to win the Australian Open title. Surprisingly, it was Sofya Kenin. She beat Muguruza in the 2020 final (2:1).
Both head-to-head games the players have had have ended with Iga’s wins. I believe she will do it again.
