Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
While the star power of Inter Milan and RB Leipzig might not measure up to the concurrently held Bayern Munich vs Paris Saint-Germain matchup in Munich, the game at the San Siro is still one of great intrigue for many football fans. In Italy, RB Leipzig will be hunting for their first Champions League win, while Inter Milan will aim to maintain their place in the top eight.
Inter Milan
Inter navigated the first half of the group stage without conceding a goal—an achievement matched only by Atalanta. Notably, over 2.5 goals were scored in just one of their four matches, with their recent games against Young Boys and Arsenal (both 1:0) producing very few goal-scoring opportunities. Against the London side, Simone Inzaghi opted once again to field several reserve players: Yann Bisseck, Mehdi Taremi, Matteo Darmian, and Davide Frattesi all started, leading to just 0.42 xG from open play over 90 minutes.
RB Leipzig
As for RB Leipzig, they have been underwhelming in the current Champions League campaign. The German club remains the only team from Europe's top-five leagues not to have earned a single point across the four rounds. Without Xavi Simons, their attack has lost its bite; against Celtic (1:3), RB Leipzig managed an xG of 1.28 with three shots on target. It’s apparent that they will struggle against Inter’s solid defence.
Inter Milan vs RB Leipzig Prediction
We are sure this encounter will be low-scoring. Inter Milan and RB Leipzig are unlikely to score more than three goals combined, so our choice is betting on a total under 3.5.
