Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
A loss to Ipswich Town could effectively end Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League title, especially with Liverpool potentially moving out of reach as early as the next round. Arsenal will likely aim to remain in the race at least into May, when the challenging Champions League semi-finals begin.
Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town’s survival hopes are virtually extinguished — even after a 2:2 away draw with Chelsea, they still sit 14 points adrift of 17th-placed West Ham United. At home, the Premier League newcomers have gained just 7 points from 16 matches — only Southampton have accrued fewer (5). Ipswich Town have conceded 32.61 xGA at home, the third-worst in the league, and with five players sidelined through injury, their squad depth will be severely tested.
Arsenal
Arsenal’s dominant display in the Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid (3:0 and 2:1) highlighted Arsenal's potential. On Wednesday at the Bernabéu, the team produced 2.05 xG from 6 shots on target, despite controlling just 34% of possession. In domestic competition, Arsenal have scored 26 goals across 16 away fixtures — only five teams have scored more on the road. Arsenal are currently riding a 10-match unbeaten run, providing vital momentum in the closing stages of the season.
Ipswich Town vs Arsenal Prediction
Back in late December, it was Kai Havertz’s clinical strike that secured victory in the reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium (1:0). On Sunday, the difference in quality will be more apparent; the underdog has seemingly lost all hope of avoiding relegation.
