Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Both Ipswich Town and Aston Villa have shown resilience by coming back during matches. They did so in the previous round. Who will rescue themselves in this game?
Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town denied Southampton their first victory and a chance to escape the relegation zone. Thanks to a long-range strike from captain Sam Morsy in the 95th minute, Ipswich Town earned a point on the road, holding their position above the relegation spots. The match against Southampton was the only game where Ipswich Town opened their scoring in the second half. In games against Manchester City, AFC Wimbledon (League Cup), and Fulham, they celebrated goals before the break. Overall, they have trailed in the first half in only two out of their six games this season.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa, on the other hand, seem to struggle with their starts. They already have four Premier League wins, but only one of those wins came after leading at halftime (against Leicester City). They drew one first half (against West Ham United) and lost two. In their latest game against Wolverhampton, they were practically invisible in the first half, barely making it past the halfway line with just two off-target shots and a meagre 0.08 xG. Wolverhampton scored from a Diego Carlos error and missed a couple of other chances. Aston Villa only woke up after the break, scoring three goals from seven (4) shots. Wolverhampton couldn't respond and failed to register a single shot in the second half.
Ipswich Town vs Aston Villa Prediction
Given Aston Villa's slow starts, it would be wise to either back a double chance for the home team in the first half or bet on Ipswich Town to score before the break. The latter bet offers better odds, but we'll go for the more reliable option.
