Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
Israel's entry into the top tier of the Nations League is already a massive achievement for the national team. However, against Belgium (1:3) and Italy (1:2), they failed to mount a challenge, and the star-studded French side, even without Kylian Mbappé, should be able to quickly impose themselves on the scoreboard.
Israel
Since March this year, Israel have suffered four defeats in five matches, conceding 12 goals in that period. In September, the team recorded an xGA of 3.13 against Belgium while managing only two shots on target. The coaching staff likely pin their hopes on the Manor Solomon-Oscar Gloukh partnership, but both midfielders need a strong finisher. The 20-year-old Anan Halali from Belgium's Union is yet to score in the current campaign.
France
The start of the Nations League was rough for France, even though Bradley Barcola scored against Italy in the first minute (1:3). In that match, Didier Deschamps was outmanoeuvred tactically by Luciano Spalletti, as Italy created more opportunities (0.79 xG vs 2.12 xG), and the French defence failed to respond adequately. Without Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappé, France need to identify a new leader — and this opportunity could motivate a number of players.
Israel vs France Prediction
On neutral ground in Budapest, Israel will struggle to compete with France. The World Cup runners-up should manage the game comfortably and create a significant margin of victory.
