Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the US Open match.
Jack Draper
The Brit easily beat Tomáš Macháč, who had similar stats in the tournament. Jack Draper only lagged behind in first-serve percentage (47-59). He did not concede a single break, despite his opponent having six break points, served 11 aces, and overall displayed confident performance. It seemed the ranking gap between opponents was much more significant.
Alex de Minaur
The Australian needed four sets and nearly three hours to overcome fellow countryman Jordan Thompson. Despite Thompson being of a lower level, he held on as best he could. In the decisive set for de Minaur (7:5), his opponent was notably more active, approached the net (17/26), hit more winners (17-8), and consequently made more errors (22-13). Alex also squandered 6 out of 9 break points. These are not particularly good stats ahead of the quarter-finals. He could get entangled for hours.
Jack Draper - Alex de Minaur Prediction
Alex de Minaur is still in the game but has failed to win in straight sets in three out of his four matches, and in his three-setter against Otto Virtanen, two sets went to additional games (7:5, 6:1, 7:6). In the quarter-finals, we don't see things coming easy or quickly for the Australian, if they come at all. In head-to-head meetings, de Minaur has the edge. He has won all three matches, with none of them finishing without an additional set. So, this encounter promises to be long and unpredictable.
