Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Indian Wells Masters match.
Jack Draper, the 13th seed, will need to stay focused against Jenson Brooksby, who pulled off an upset in the previous round by defeating the 17th seed. Despite the American’s low ranking of 937th, he remains a dangerous opponent.
Jack Draper
Draper has been in excellent form. He cruised past rising Brazilian star João Fonseca in the second round (6:4, 6:0), which comes as no surprise following his impressive ATP 500 final run in Doha. There, the Brit pushed Andrey Rublev to three sets (5:7, 7:5, 1:6) before running out of steam. With eight wins in his last ten matches, Draper arrives in Indian Wells full of confidence.
Jenson Brooksby
Brooksby’s career has seen highs and lows, and he is now attempting a resurgence. The 24-year-old American once climbed to 33rd in the ATP rankings in 2022 before facing an 18-month suspension for missing three doping tests in a 12-month period. Returning to competition under a protected ranking, Brooksby has wasted no time making an impact, dispatching Félix Auger-Aliassime (6:4, 6:2) in the previous round.
Jack Draper vs Jenson Brooksby Prediction
Draper will be facing a player with top-30 potential, but the Brit’s strong form gives him the advantage. Brooksby has competed well against elite players this season, taking Tommy Paul to three sets (7:6, 3:6, 4:6), though he was comfortably beaten by Taylor Fritz (2:6, 0:6, 3:6). Expect Draper to come through, but not without resistance.
