Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Indian Wells Masters match.
Jack Draper has overcome a series of injuries and is delivering impressive performances this season, but now faces a major test against world No. 4 Taylor Fritz. The American has struggled for consistency after a strong 2024 and has fallen early in recent tournaments. He will have to step up his game against the in-form Brit in what promises to be a tight battle.
Jack Draper
Draper has been excellent in 2025, winning 9 of 11 matches. He reached the fourth round of the Australian Open but was forced to retire against Carlos Alcaraz due to a hip injury. After that, he advanced to the semi-finals in Doha, pushing Andrey Rublev in a competitive three-setter (5:7, 7:5, 1:6). In Indian Wells, Draper has looked dominant, easing past João Fonseca (6:4, 6:0) and Jenson Brooksby (7:5, 6:4). Against Brooksby, he won 88% of points on his first serve, showing strong efficiency. However, his last three matches against Fritz have all gone the distance, highlighting how evenly matched they are.
Taylor Fritz
Despite being ranked fourth in the world, Fritz has had a disappointing start to the season. He has failed to make deep runs in three consecutive tournaments, falling in the third round of the Australian Open, and losing early in Dallas and Delray Beach. In Indian Wells, he comfortably defeated world No. 237 Matteo Gigante (6:3, 7:5) but then struggled against Alejandro Tabilo (4:6, 6:3, 6:1), winning just 45% of points on his second serve. Fritz's form remains inconsistent, and he will need to improve against a well-rounded opponent like Draper.
Jack Draper vs Taylor Fritz Prediction
The head-to-head record suggests long, closely fought battles—three of their four meetings have gone to three sets. Additionally, five of Fritz’s last matches have featured at least 21 games, while four of Draper’s last five matches have followed a similar pattern. Given their history and current form, this encounter is likely to be another extended contest.
