Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Welsh Open snooker match.
Jack Lisowski and Stephen Maguire will battle for a place in the semi-finals of the Welsh Open. Both players have not reached a ranking event final for a long time, making this a great opportunity to fight for the title.
Jack Lisowski
Lisowski continues to deliver an excellent performance in Llandudno. Yesterday, he confidently defeated Matthew Selt (4:2), having previously beaten Chris Wakelin (4:1) and completely dominated Joshua Cooper (4:0). We really like Jack’s game in this tournament – his play has regained its characteristic fluidity and flair. His cue ball control is exceptional, and he is consistently making big breaks. Given his current form, we would not be surprised if he soon makes a 147 maximum break.
Stephen Maguire
Maguire has not had a great season, but he is playing quite well at the moment. In Llandudno, he defeated Xu Si (4:2), Mark Williams (4:2), and Sanderson Lam (4:2). However, Stephen has suffered several disappointing defeats this season, losing to Cheung Ka Wai (4:5), He Guoqiang (1:4), Haydon Pinhey (2:6), and Alfie Burden (4:5). A major issue for Maguire is his emotional control – he often lets frustration affect his game, which prevents him from achieving consistently high results. The last time Maguire reached the semi-finals of a ranking tournament was four years ago at this very event, and since then, he has only managed to reach the quarter-finals a handful of times. Of course, he would love to fight for a title again, as his last tournament win dates back to 2020.
Jack Lisowski vs Stephen Maguire Prediction
This match is crucial for Maguire because if he beats Lisowski today, he will qualify for the Grand Prix. However, this added pressure can be both a motivation and a burden. If the game does not go well from the start, things could unravel quickly for him. We recommend a bet on the highest break in the match. Lisowski has been consistently making big breaks, while Maguire has only made six centuries this season. Given their current form, we expect Jack Lisowski to make the highest break of the match.
