Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Roland Garros match.
Jannick Sinner continues his campaign for the only Grand Slam title that has eluded him. After dominant wins over Jiri Lehecka and Andrey Rublev, he has once again underlined his credentials as a major title contender. Alexander Bublik, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the tournament’s surprise packages, having already eliminated two players ranked inside the top 10. His next assignment, however, is his toughest yet – the world No.1.
Jannick Sinner
Sinner has made marked improvements on clay, winning nine of his last ten matches on the surface. At Roland Garros, he has yet to lose a set. In his most recent outing against Andrey Rublev, the Italian converted five break points and won 81% of points behind his first serve. His recent Grand Slam record is outstanding: he has reached the semi-finals in five of his six appearances dating back to 2023. In head-to-head meetings with Alexander Bublik, Sinner leads (3-1), with the only loss coming via retirement.
Alexander Bublik
For Alexander Bublik, reaching the quarter-finals in Paris marks a personal best. He produced another comeback win, this time over world No.5 Jack Draper, and struck eight aces. However, he also recorded seven double faults and 39 unforced errors. His record against elite opponents remains a concern, with just three wins in his last eleven matches against top-5 players.
Jannick Sinner vs Alexander Bublik Prediction
Alexander Bublik is an entertainer and will look to unsettle with his unpredictable shot-making. But Jannick Sinner is far too composed and consistent to be rattled by flair alone. The Italian is expected to take control from the outset and maintain pressure throughout. The gulf in class, preparation, and tactical discipline is likely to be telling.
