Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Roland Garros match.
Jannik Sinner continues to assert his dominance on the clay of Roland Garros, rolling through the early rounds with clinical precision. His next opponent, Czech No. 34 Jiri Lehecka, comes in with momentum — but faces a monumental challenge against the tournament’s form player.
Jannik Sinner
Sinner has been nearly flawless this spring, winning 7 of his last 8 clay matches — six of them in straight sets. In Paris, he’s breezed past Arthur Rinderknech and Richard Gasquet, dropping just 13 games across both matches. Against Rinderknech, Sinner won 75% of points on his first serve with zero double faults. Against Gasquet, he needed just two hours to dispatch the French veteran, including a second-set bagel (6:3, 6:0, 6:4). The Italian has also dominated the head-to-head with Lehečka — winning all three previous meetings in straight sets, including once on clay.
Jiri Lehecka
Lehecka has impressed with his composure in Paris, particularly in his second-round win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Czech fired 12 aces, topped out at 201 km/h on serve, and looked sharp throughout. However, his clay-court résumé remains limited: just 5 wins in 10 matches this season, and recent losses to the likes of Cameron Norrie (No. 81) and Tomás Martín Etcheverry (No. 53) suggest he struggles to maintain consistency. His career record against top-10 opponents stands at 7 wins in 24 matches — respectable but not elite.
Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka Prediction
While Lehecka’s Paris form is commendable, Sinner is operating on a different level — combining power, precision, and unshakeable composure. Given their previous meetings, surface advantage, and the Italian’s current rhythm, it’s hard to see this being competitive beyond patches of resistance.
