Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Wimbledon match.
Jannik Sinner enters Wimbledon as the world No. 1 and one of the clear favourites for the title. Last year, he reached the quarter-finals, pushing Daniil Medvedev to five sets. Now, having made at least the final in each of the last three Grand Slams, Sinner is widely expected to go deep again. His first-round opponent, fellow Italian Luca Nardi, currently sits outside the top 90 and is unlikely to offer any serious resistance.
Jannik Sinner
Sinner has been solid on grass, winning 18 of his last 23 matches on the surface since 2023. He’s made the Wimbledon quarter-finals or better three years running. Though he played just a couple of matches in Halle as warm-up, his serve looked sharp — averaging six aces per match and winning 78% of points behind his first delivery.
Luca Nardi
Nardi, by contrast, has always struggled on grass. He’s lost six of eight career matches on the surface, with defeats to the likes of Taro Daniel, Rinky Hijikata, and Billy Harris. In 2025, he played just once on grass — a heavy loss to Harris where he won only seven games and posted poor stats on first serve (58% in, 63% won).
Jannik Sinner vs Luca Nardi Prediction
Nardi’s serve is unreliable and his game lacks the stability needed for grass-court rallies. The gulf in class is undeniable. Expect Sinner to dominate from start to finish and wrap this up with ease.
