Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Roland Garros match.
Despite widespread support for Jannik Sinner, who is being heavily tipped to win, Novak Djokovic’s performance against Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals warrants closer attention.
Jannik Sinner
The Italian, who made his comeback in Rome, has progressed smoothly in Paris thus far. In the quarter-finals, Sinner benefited from a favourable draw, facing Alexander Bublik, whose appearance at this stage was unexpected. Instead of dealing with the threat of Jack Draper, he faced the world No.62 from Kazakhstan, allowing him only a competitive second set (6:1, 7:5, 6:0). Sinner has yet to drop a set and has kept every opponent from reaching a tie-break.
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic encountered his sternest challenge in the quarter-finals against third seed Alexander Zverev. For the first time in the tournament, Djokovic was pushed to an additional set. Alexander Zverev took the opening set 6:4, but in the latter stages of the second, Djokovic delivered a tactical masterclass. His adjustments neutralised Zverev’s momentum and shifted the match decisively in his favour. Throughout the clash, Djokovic demonstrated the anticipation and strategic control befitting a multiple Grand Slam champion, staying several steps ahead throughout. His composure and experience proved decisive.
Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Prediction
Jannik Sinner now faces a serious test against this version of Novak Djokovic. Although Sinner remains a strong contender for the final, he will be forced to exert himself fully, as the seasoned competitor will not make the path straightforward.
