Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Australian Open match.
The world number one is set to discover how his peer, who is well below his level at 173rd in the rankings, plays. Will Sinner spend up to three hours of his precious time on Schoolkate?
Jannik Sinner
In the first round, Jannik had to engage in a similar task. The Italian wrapped up the match in 2 hours and 40 minutes, but he faced the world number 36, Nicolás Jarry. The Chilean had previously reached the third round in each Grand Slam and was eager to rebound after an unsuccessful season. As a result, Sinner had to resort to tiebreaks to secure victory — 7:6, 7:6, 6:1.
Tristan Schoolkate
Tristan also needed tiebreaks. In the first, the 23-year-old lost to Japan's Taro Daniel, but in the second, he took revenge. The third set came easily to him (6:1), and he secured the win with a 6:4 fourth set. Nevertheless, it required considerable time and effort — 3 hours and 14 minutes in total. And that was against the world number 113, who is nine years older than Schoolkate. Now he will face Sinner, who is in his prime and was undefeated on the Melbourne courts last year.
Jannik Sinner vs Tristan Schoolkate Prediction
The reigning Australian Open champion will not drop a set, nor many games either, as he faces a player with only six ATP-level matches to his name, five of which he lost. This will be an easy victory for Sinner.
