Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Doha match.
Jiří Lehečka has made an impressive start to the 2025 season, winning 10 of his 12 matches. One of those victories came against Grigor Dimitrov in the Brisbane semi-finals, where the Bulgarian was forced to retire due to injury. They meet again in Doha, with Lehečka looking to extend his dominance in their head-to-head.
Jiří Lehečka
Lehečka’s victory over Dimitrov in Brisbane was incomplete, as the Bulgarian withdrew at 6:4, 4:4 due to a groin injury. The Czech went on to win the title after another opponent, Reilly Opelka, retired in the final. At the Australian Open, Lehečka put in a strong performance, reaching the fourth round, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in straight sets. His form and match fitness make him a strong contender here.
Grigor Dimitrov
Dimitrov has not played a competitive match since the Australian Open, where he retired in the first round due to a hip injury. The lack of match fitness is a significant concern, as he has played seven fewer matches than his upcoming opponent this season. Although Dimitrov remains higher in the rankings (15th vs 25th), his injury history and inactivity make him a risky pick.
Jiří Lehečka vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction
Lehečka leads their head-to-head 3-1, with Dimitrov’s only win coming at the Australian Open in 2022. The Czech has more match practice, is in excellent form, and has already beaten Dimitrov this season.
