Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Wimbledon match.
Bellucci faced a relatively straightforward opponent in the opening round — world No.248 Oliver Crawford — but still found himself in trouble at times and even trailed during the match. Now he faces a very different challenge in world No.25 Jiří Lehečka, who is currently in peak form.
Jiří Lehečka
Lehečka impressed at the Queen’s Club Championships, reaching the final before falling to world No.2 Carlos Alcaraz in three sets (5:7, 7:6, 2:6). At Wimbledon, the Czech looked sharp from the outset, dispatching world No.79 Hugo Dellien in four sets (4:6, 6:2, 6:2, 7:6). His serve was particularly dominant, with 22 aces and a staggering 95% of points won behind it.
Mattia Bellucci
Bellucci, meanwhile, struggled for consistency against Crawford — 42 unforced errors against 51 winners tell the story. More concerning is his inability to threaten on return, winning just 15% of points on his opponent’s serve. That’s a worrying stat heading into a match against a big server like Lehečka.
Jiří Lehečka vs Mattia Bellucci Prediction
There’s a clear gulf in quality between these two. With Lehečka in such strong form, he’s quietly emerging as a dark horse in this year’s draw. Bellucci isn’t much of a step up from Dellien, and the match is likely to follow a similar script.
