Adam Williams presents his prediction for the UK Championship snooker match.
Judd Trump
Judd Trump beat Neil Robertson 6-3 in the first round of the UK Championship, settling the score for his defeat in the quarter-finals of the Champion of Champions. Of all the qualifiers, Judd was given the most dangerous opponent, and he managed well, quickly getting into the match. Trump has secured two trophies in prestigious tournaments in Shanghai and Riyadh this season, although he also lost twice in finals to Kyren Wilson. Now Trump and Wilson can only meet at the semi-final stage, but each needs to win two more matches first.
John Higgins
John Higgins reached the final of the British Open, where he lost to Mark Selby 10-5. The great Scot also suffered two unexpected defeats in the qualifiers — to Jimmy Robertson 5-2 and Sunny Akani 5-4. In the first match in York, Higgins thrashed He Guoqiang 6-0, making very few mistakes. It's hard to say how the first-round match would have gone if Higgins had played against a dangerous qualifier, but John handled it flawlessly, and now he's facing his biggest test of strength.
Judd Trump vs John Higgins Prediction
The history of Trump and Higgins' head-to-head matches includes several iconic battles, including World Championship finals. Trump has won ten of his last eleven matches against Higgins, making him the clear favourite in the upcoming game. We're not sure Judd will have an easy ride, as John has shown he is in good shape. We'll suggest a bet on the number of half-centuries — both John and Judd are excellent at converting open positions and confidently scoring 50 points or more. We also consider it possible to see two half-centuries in one frame — one from each player.
