Adam Williams presents his prediction for the World Snooker Championship match.
Considered the favourite, Judd Trump will face the ambitious Chinese master, Zhou Yuelong.
Judd Trump
The 35-year-old “Ace in the Pack” is a strong favourite to win the World Championship. Judd holds the world number one ranking with a significant lead over second-placed Kyren Wilson. Trump has demonstrated impressive form throughout this season. Judd has won the UK Championship and Saudi Arabian Masters, bringing his total to 30 ranking titles, including the 2019 World Championship, the 2011 and 2025 UK Championships, and the 2019 and 2023 Masters. He is famous for his aggressive, attacking style of play and exceptional consistency – Trump has compiled over 1000 century breaks in his career.
Zhou Yuelong
Zhou Yuelong represents a serious threat and can pose problems for even the top 16 players. The 27-year-old, Chinese snooker player, currently ranked 32nd in the world, has shown steady progress in recent seasons. Zhou possesses a well-balanced game with excellent long shots and cue ball control. Yuelong’s weakness is his psychology. Zhou sometimes lacks the composure to withstand pressure in crucial moments during matches. He has reached three ranking finals, but was unsuccessful on each occasion. In the qualifying matches, Yuelong defeated Ishpreet Singh Chadha 10-5 and Yuan Sijun 10-5, however, he only managed to compile eight breaks over 50 in the 20 frames that he won.
Judd Trump vs Zhou Yuelong Prediction
This match promises to be more competitive than it might seem at first glance. Zhou possesses all the necessary skills to make Judd’s path to the second round challenging. It’s also worth noting that Judd tends to build momentum as tournaments progress, often displaying less concentration in his early matches. This presents an opportunity for Yuelong. If Zhou demonstrates mental stability at the end of frames, he can expect Judd to make more mistakes.
