Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
After losing just one match under Thiago Motta before January, Juventus suffered three defeats last month. However, they have become more aggressive in attack, and at home against struggling Empoli, they are expected to create plenty of scoring chances.
Juventus
Despite their 1:2 defeat away to Napoli, Juventus generated 1.03 xG and had opportunities to win if not for defensive lapses. In their 0:2 loss to Benfica in the final round of the Champions League group stage, their motivation was lacking, yet they still managed 0.92 xG and 17 shots with 66% possession. Crucially, they remain unbeaten at home in Serie A, picking up 19 points from 11 matches.
Empoli
A poor run of form has dragged Empoli back into the relegation fight, with their lead over 18th-placed Lecce down to just one point. Their away defensive record is concerning, conceding 17 goals in 11 matches—only Bologna (18) have a worse defence among the league’s top 10. Coach Roberto D'Aversa will be without key defenders Alberto Grassi and Giuseppe Pezzella, both suspended due to yellow card accumulation.
Juventus vs Empoli Prediction
An away fixture ended in a frustrating 0:0 draw, but at home, Juventus should dictate the tempo and control the match. With Empoli’s defensive absences and Juventus’ need to stay in the title race, a comfortable home victory looks likely.
