Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Juventus
Igor Tudor has been preparing Juventus for the new campaign, having already secured Champions League qualification during his short spell last season. The main gift from the board is the signing of proven goalscorer Jonathan David from Lille. Juventus have also completed the permanent transfer of Francisco Conceição, although he still looks raw and will need time to cement his place. Their pre-season included proper tests against Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta, both of which ended in 2:1 wins for Juventus.
Parma
Parma achieved their goal of survival last season but lost coach Cristian Chivu, who accepted an offer from Inter Milan. Now they are led by the youngest coach in Serie A, 30-year-old Carlos Cuesta, who has been in coaching since the early 2010s and previously worked as an assistant at Atlético Madrid. He will have to make do without 18-year-old centre-back Giovanni Leoni, sold to Liverpool less than a week ago.
Juventus vs Parma Prediction
It is hard to believe that 23-year-old Abdoulaye Ndiaye, brought in from Troyes, will instantly replace such a talent. The level of opposition in Serie A is on another scale compared to France’s Ligue 2. Defensive issues seem inevitable, and that should cost the visitors. Rather than the handicap, the better option looks like Juventus to win and clear a goals line.
