Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the MLB playoff match.
The Kansas City Royals needed just three runs to win the series against the Baltimore Orioles. As the Royals conclude two matches against the New York Yankees, they have already racked up nine runs. The Yankees will aim to reclaim the lead on the road.
Kansas City Royals
The suddenly revitalised Kansas City Royals offence has been a genuine surprise. Even more so, the Royals are successfully attacking without their main star. Bobby Witt Jr. is the primary, and perhaps only, competitor to Aaron Judge in the race for the American League MVP title. In two games, he posted 0 for 10 at the plate with four strikeouts. This marks the first time since August 30 that Witt has gone hitless in consecutive games. Throughout the entire regular season, he recorded 0 for 5 just twice in the final tally. There's no doubt that the Royals’ main weapon will eventually come alive in the series.
New York Yankees
The same goes for the Yankees. Mentioned above, Aaron Judge has been quiet so far. He finally got a hit in the previous game, but it's a modest output for someone who just completed one of the best regular seasons in baseball history: 58 home runs and 144 RBIs. It’s difficult to contain such a powerhouse for an entire playoff series.
Kansas City Royals vs New York Yankees Prediction
Let's not forget that both the Royals and the Yankees have mediocre bullpens—the weakest among all remaining teams. It's time for the star hitters on both sides to step up. Expect a high-scoring game.
